Beginners’ Courses

Stratford Archers invite all newcomers to our club. Training Courses are arranged periodically throughout the year and details are posted on this page. Unless a person is an experienced archer, this is the only way to become a shooting member.

Course Beginners’ Course in Target Archery consisting of 6 sessions
GroupAdults and Juniors (aged 9yrs+)

Time10.00 - 12.00 (please aim to arrive about 15 mins before the session)
LocationThe Home Guard Club in Tiddington.
How it worksYou book your place on the course by pressing the ‘Book Now’ button
below, filling in your details and making the appropriate payment.
The club notifies you to confirm your place on the course.

Once you have successfully completed six sessions, you will receive a
certificate and be invited to join the club as a member.
Prices£95 per person, 10% discount for two or more booking at the same time on the same course.

The courses are led by members who are qualified to a minimum of GNAS level 1 coaching qualification. At times they may be helped by other club members who are experienced archers.

All equipment is provided by Stratford Archers.

The course covers the following topics:-

  • Setting up and taking down equipment

  • Safety and behaviours expected of all archers

  • Warm up and cool down exercises

  • Establishing good posture and shooting technique

  • Shooting barebow style and shooting using sights

  • Scoring and experiencing tournament conditions

  • Joining the club and progressing beyond beginners

We recommend that close fitting clothing be worn suitable for the conditions ie outdoors. Long hair should be tied back and any face jewellery removed.

 

Juniors may enrol on the course only if they are aged 9 or above. Our child protection policy requires that juniors aged 9-15 inclusive should be accompanied by an adult at all times, the adult does not have to be on the course. Juniors aged 16-17 must provide written parental consent to attend the course without the company of an adult. Any junior remains the responsibility of their parent or guardian.


Stratford Archers follows a strict safety code and any person found to be in breach of this may be asked to leave the course.
