Stratford Archers invite all newcomers to our club. Training Courses are arranged periodically throughout the year and details are posted on this page. Unless a person is an experienced archer, this is the only way to become a shooting member.

How it works | You book your place on the course by pressing the ‘Book Now’ button below, filling in your details and making the appropriate payment. The club notifies you to confirm your place on the course. You attend sessions on any of the dates above, at your choice. You email the Course Organiser (see ‘Contact’ below) at least 24 hours before each session that you intend to join (so we know who is coming). Once you have successfully completed six sessions, you will receive a certificate and be invited to join the club as a member. |

The courses are led by members who are qualified to a minimum of GNAS level 1 coaching qualification. At times they may be helped by other club members who are experienced archers.
All equipment is provided by Stratford Archers.
The course covers the following topics:-
- Safety
- Whistle commands
- Warm up and cool down excercises
- Basic point of aim technique
- Use of take down recurve bows and sights
- Scoring
- Demonstration of other bow types
We recommend that close fitting clothing be worn suitable for the conditions ie outdoors. Long hair should be tied back.
Juniors may enrol on the course only if they are aged 9 or above. Our child protection policy requires that juniors aged 9-15 inclusive should be accompanied by an adult at all times, the adult does not have to be on the course. Juniors aged 16-17 must provide written parental consent to attend the course without the company of an adult. Any junior remains the responsibility of their parent or guardian.
Stratford Archers follows a strict safety code and any person found to be in breach of this may be asked to leave the course.
